Nelson Brothers’ Cask Finish Series represents a glorious union of tradition and creativity in the distiller’s craft: select barrels of our celebrated bourbon are enlivened by the characteristic aromas and flavors of the special casks that host the final stage of the aging process. Each varietal reveals a startling new dimension of whiskey’s timeless character.

Sherry Cask Finish: The Oloroso casks selected by the Nelson Brothers team restore the robustness and fortitude of sherry’s true Spanish character. When Nelson Brothers bourbon enters those casks for its final stage of aging, the results come close to alchemy: drawing out the dark colors, sweet notes (brown sugar, vanilla, raisins), and long, warm finish—with a hint of spicy bite that makes it irresistible.

Medeira Cask Finish: Nelson’s Green Brier head distiller, Brandon O’Daniel, is always talking about how much he loves bourbons aged in red wine casks. It’s why Nelson Brothers Madeira Cask finished bourbon is one of his favorite cask finishes. American oak barrels, previously used to age sweet Malmsey Madeira wine, are filled with our Nelson Brothers bourbon and aged an additional 3-18 months in the Madeira casks. Madeira wine is known for its dark sweetness with notes of caramel, coffee and dried fruit. It brings out in the bourbon notes of raisin, brown sugar, vanilla and cocoa.

Mourvedre Cask Finish: Nelson Brothers Mourvèdre Cask brings a piece of the Sierra Foothills of California down to Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee. Southern grain meets Northern California grapes thanks to this partnership with Withers Winery out of Sonoma County.  Known to appeal to richer wine drinkers, Mourvedre brings notes of dark plum and cracked peppercorns to every bottle. The bourbon touts notes of cherry cobbler, almond, sweet mint and honey.
